About SalarySketch
Helping Americans understand their paychecks since 2024 · Updated for 2026 tax year
SalarySketch is a free, independent resource dedicated to helping every American understand exactly what happens to their paycheck. We believe financial transparency starts with knowing where your money goes — down to the last dollar — without needing a CPA on speed dial.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: provide the most accurate, easy-to-use, and completely free tax calculators for all 50 US states. Every calculator on SalarySketch is updated annually with the latest IRS tax brackets, FICA rates, Social Security wage bases, and state income tax schedules from official government sources and the Tax Foundation.
What We Cover
SalarySketch offers five core calculator types — Paycheck, 1099 Self-Employment, Self-Employment Tax, RSU Vesting, and Bonus Tax — available for every US state. That means 300+ unique, state-specific calculator pages, each with accurate 2026 tax data and instant results.
How Our Calculators Work
Unlike many tax tools that require you to create an account or share personal data, all SalarySketch calculations run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your income figures are never transmitted to our servers. We store no personally identifiable financial data. Period.
Data Sources
Our 2026 tax data is sourced from:
- IRS.gov — Official 2026 federal income tax brackets, standard deductions, FICA rates, and supplemental withholding rates
- Tax Foundation — 2026 state individual income tax rates and brackets (State Individual Income Tax Rates and Brackets, 2026)
- Social Security Administration — 2026 Social Security wage base ($184,500)
- IRS Publication 15-A — 2026 supplemental wage withholding rates
